Borneo

Borneo was a cultural surprise - we arrived prepared for the usual Asian hassling, and were amazed by friendly and polite attitude of local people. I've never been in a country were people were so willing to help (whether helping was their business or not). The trip also turned out to be a culinary challenge - there was a lot of food that we never tried before, and figuring out what we wanted to eat was rather difficult, though interesting.

Pictures of the lizard and the monkeys are taken on the same island popular with snorkelers and divers. Lizards and monkeys have a nice symbiotic relationship - after the tourists leave, monkeys come out of the jungle, throw everything out of garbage bins, and eat the best pieces. Then lizards come out and pick up things that monkeys threw on the ground. After all that, what used to be a nice island looks like slum. They make bear-proof garbage bins in America - how difficult can it be to make a monkey-proof one?
